About Us

Our Founders:  Steve and Patty Myers

In 1989 Steve and Patty officially opened Myers Aviation. Steve had been working as an A&P for Basler Flight Services and fixing up additional aircraft in his “spare time.” As Steve fixed and sold more aircraft, his reputation for quality work in the shop and creative recovery techniques resulted in more and more insurance adjusters recommending his shop to their customers. As customers increased so did the shop space. Over the past thirty years the hangar has been added on to twice and additional storage hangars have been purchased and rented.  With this growth also came an increase in staffing.

Steve has led a team that specializes in working with insurance companies to carefully recover damaged aircraft from on and off-airport crash sites all over the Midwest and often farther. After recovery, reasonably priced, secure indoor and outdoor storage is offered, as well as quality rebuilding with our own jigs and tools for wings, stabilizers, and controls. Sometimes the recovered aircraft are beyond reasonable repair. In this case we are often able to purchase the salvage and part out what remains either for our own use in future repairs or for sale to others.

All these years Patty has been Steve’s right hand just off stage. She has worked on the bookkeeping side of the business keeping invoices, payments, and all of the office needs flowing smoothly.

Our Owners: Nate and Jenny Smith

Nate Smith has been a Myers Aviation employee since 2010. Over the years he went from the newest A&P in the shop to the shop manager. He has been the one who plans the repair schedule, works to coordinate recovery efforts, communicates with insurance adjusters and customers, and still finds himself turning wrenches from time to time. In 2017 Jenny Smith joined the team as part time bookkeeper and “shop mom.”

We currently have 11 employees on our team.  Seven are A&P mechanics, three have their IA endorsement, one is an AP student, two are pilots, and three are student pilots.  They are a group of professional problem solvers who enjoy tackling the uniqueness of each aircraft recovery and repair.

June of 2023 marked the turning of a page in the Myers Aviation Inc. history book as Nate and Jenny purchased the business. The  transfer of ownership was done in a way that kept Myers Aviation Inc. a dependable business that provides excellent services to the general aviation community.
